Arrivals of other varieties of basmati have also been reported in 4 states
During the week from October 3-9, the Kosi Kalan mandi (grain market) in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh reported the highest rate for the early-maturing basmati variety Pusa Basmati 1509 paddy at Rs 5,100 per quintal on October 6 as per the data gathered from the government portal https://agmarknet.gov.in. The minimum rate recorded in the mandi was Rs 4,000 per quintal on that day.
However, the maximum rate of Pusa Basmati 1509 in Kosi Kalan mandi dropped to Rs 2,900 per quintal on October 7 and 8. On October 9, the maximum rate for the commodity was recorded at Rs 2,840 per quintal in Kosi Kalan.
During the week, the portal recorded mandi prices of Pusa Basmati 1509 from 32 districts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The modal prices of the crop remained over Rs 3,000 per quintal 18 times in seven districts of these four states.
The maximum rates of Pusa Basmati 1509 remained over Rs 3,000 per quintal 39 times in 12 districts of these states. The lowest maximum rates of the crop were recorded in Datia mandi of MP at Rs 1,790 per quintal and Rs 1,815 per quintal on October 6 and 5 respectively.
Arrivals of other varieties of basmati have also started in the mandis of Punjab, Haryana, UP and MP.
Arrivals of Pusa Basmati 1121 variety of basmati were also reported from the mandis in seven districts of Punjab. The highest maximum rate of Pusa Basmati 1121 was recorded at Rs 3,400 per quintal in Bareta mandi of Mansa district on October 8.
Arrivals of Sugandha variety of basmati were reported from four districts of UP during the week. It was sold in the range of Rs 2,300-3,000 per quintal. The Bahjoi mandi of Moradabad district in UP reported the arrivals of Super Basmati during the week. It was sold in the range of Rs 1,950-2,2,00 per quintal.
