Rs 300 per quintal increase in support price of mustard-rapeseed, Rs 275 for lentil
The Indian government has announced a hike of Rs 150 per quintal in the minimum support price (MSP) of wheat for the 2025-26 rabi marketing season (April 1, 2024-March 31, 2025). The Indian Cabinet approved the MSP, based on the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), for wheat and five other rabi (winter-sown) crops on Tuesday (October 16, 2024).
The MSP of wheat for RMS 2025-26 is Rs 2,425 per quintal, up from Rs 2,275 per quintal in the 2024-25 rabi marketing season. The support price for wheat has risen by about 6.59% over last year. The MSP of barley has been increased by Rs 130 per quintal (about 7.02%).
The highest absolute increase in MSP over the previous year has been recommended for pulses and oilseeds. The MSP of mustard-rapeseed has been raised by Rs 300 per quintal (about 5.3%) followed by Rs 275 per quintal (about 4.28%) for lentil (masur) and gram (chana) by Rs 210 per quintal (about 3.86%). In the case of kusum (safflower), there has been an increase of Rs 140 per quintal (about 2.41%), in comparison to last year.
