Subsidy available for primary processing of horticulture produce

Financial assistance for cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, aromatic plants

The National Horticulture Board (NHB) of the Indian government is running schemes for promotion of commercial horticulture in the country by providing financial assistance to the eligible beneficiaries.

The board is giving a subsidy for commercial horticulture development projects under protected cover on project mode. The NHB is providing a subsidy for primary processing of fruits, vegetables, flowers, aromatic plants (distillation unit) and cashew.

CROPS ELIGIBLE

Fruits, vegetables, flowers, aromatic plants and cashew are only eligible for subsidy.

Pattern of assistance: For a project of Rs 25 lakh, credit-linked back-ended subsidy is provided at 35% of the total cost limited to Rs 8.75 lakh per project in general areas and at 50% of the project cost limited to Rs 12.5 lakh in the northeast region, hilly states and scheduled areas.

Eligibility for financial assistance

Those eligible for financial assistance for include association of growers, individuals, group of farmer growers/consumers, farmers producer organizations (FPOs,) partnership/proprietary firms, self-help groups (SHGs), NGOs, companies, corporations, cooperatives, cooperative marketing federations, agricultural produce marketing committees, marketing boards/committees, municipal corporations/committees, agro-industries corporations, state agricultural universities (SAUs) and other concerned research and development (R&D) organizations.
