Country’s milk production surged 130% from 2000 to 2020
According to the data compiled by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), India is the world’s largest milk producer. During 2020, India contributed 21% to the global milk output.
India’s milk production was about 80 million tonnes in 2000, which has increased to about 184 million tonnes in 2020. During these 20 years, India’s milk production increased by about 130% or 104 million tonnes.
After India, the United States of America was the world’s second largest milk producer in 2020, accounting for 11% of the world’s total production of about 101 million tons.
If we talk about the entire world, milk production increased by 307 million tonnes from 2000 to 2020. The world’s total milk production in 2020 was 887 million tonnes.
